Abstract

The workshop concentrated on calculation strategies, specifically multiplication. Methods of multiplication from different cultures were covered and included: Gelosian, Egyptian, Russian Peasant Method, Napier’s Bones.
The workshop arose following school based research undertaken in Primary school and was associated with Claxton's (2002) Building Learning Power.
