Abstract

The University of Worcester has developed its curriculum to ensure students are able to demonstrate the new Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)1 standards of proficiency for midwives – Domain 5: promoting excellence: the midwife as colleague, scholar and leader. Having a clear understanding of what students need to achieve enables clinicians to support and challenge the learning of students in their role as practice supervisors and assessors. While in the midst of Covid-19, it is clear that at the point of registration, all midwives need to be able to respond to rapidly changing services with resilience and confidence, and still question effectively the evidence that underpins decision making.
