Abstract

Following the success of his book How to Support a Champion, Dr Steve Ingham has further diversified dissemination to satisfy the thirst for insightful perspectives on applying science effectively to athletes. From years in the field, Steve has a vast network of peers that includes; coaches, researchers, scientists and athletes. This is evidenced by the assorted list of podcast guests. One particular episode of note is episode 21 with Tess Morris-Paterson on astronaut training. Steve often likes to “unpack” the key points addressed, which he does successfully to ensure understanding for himself and therefore the listeners. Discussions are typically more holistic, and a common theme from the podcast is the importance of "soft skills" contextualised to a specific environment. The episodes typically last for 1 hour, but some episodes are longer, which may be problematic for those that like listening to podcasts during regular commutes. Whilst the audio in some episodes is not as clear as other podcasts, several of the podcasts have accompanying video that can offer a different listening (and viewing) experience. We highly recommend this podcast.
