Abstract
This chapter will:
Provide a theoretical understanding of safeguarding and protecting children within a legislative, policy and multi-agency framework.
Consider the implications for the early childhood practitioner in meeting the relationships with parents.
Emphasise the importance of the student/practitioner's critical reflective disposition in all aspects of their professional practice in safeguarding and protecting children.
Include strong recognition of the voice of the child towards ensuring that safeguarding and child protection practice is child-focused.
Consider some of the concerns or anxieties students and practitioners may have in the context of their perspectives and experiences of safeguarding and protecting children in an early years setting.
