This paper will draw upon a review of research evidence ascertaining the effectiveness of various family intervention programmes for military and veteran families. To make the content relevant and accessible to the audience of researchers and professionals, the presentation will use hypothetical examples to describe the dynamics and challenges of high conflict military and veteran families in which there are parent-child relationship problems, including alienation and realistic estrangement that interfere with co-parenting. These challenges will be explored through the viewpoint of family court professionals, forensic evaluators, and therapists. The presentation will involve the participants in discussions regarding their understanding of the challenges and ways to address them and educating them on how to choose evidence based interventions in their recommendations and/or practice.
