Abstract
This research was undertaken to operationalise conceptualisations of the coaching process (from performance and its organisational context) across coacting and interacting sports. In this investigation, the identification of activities aligned with the enhancement of performance within the influence of the coaching approach, was sought.
Styles, systems, processes, science support, relationships, social wellbeing, creativity-in-action, leading in the training context, and variables desirable in the performance arena were included in the evaluation of facilitative coaching practices. The study of these elements led to the revelation of significant contributors to coaching facilitation. From these results, a diagnostic inventory was developed, the Facilitating Coaching Styles Questionnaire [FCSQ] to enable the benchmarking of coaching activities, culture and impact against those demonstrated to have positive impact.
