Abstract

The Mountain of Dead Selves is an investigation of David Bowie's album Station to Station. Bowie's album was made at the height of his interest with the occult and esoteric. The piece takes the idea of ritual as the physical manifestation of mental desire to explore my ongoing interest in representations of ontology; specifically how the immateriality of idealism can be performed and represented physically but recorded and projected as immaterial light. The looping presentation of the work allows for these contradictions to be openly explored without recourse to a defining final conclusion.
