Abstract

Monsoon Memories portrays the rich untold stories of women who came to the UK from India in the 1960s. This report provides cultural context for a programme of work which spotlights a generation of women who remain almost invisible in academic and cultural discourse, occupying a silent space in extant studies of heritage, culture and migration. This report and other outputs from the project showcase the power and inner strength of first-generation British Indian women and their key role in keeping cultural practices and traditions intact and relevant for future generations.
