Abstract

The authors reflect on foodborne infection and the role of healthcare professionals on handling the disease. They state that the Centre for Disease Control in the U.S. estimates foodborne illness to affect 76 million people every year, involving 300,000 for hospital treatment and 5000 fatalities. They also relate that it was the duty of healthcare professionals to interpret clinical symptoms, perform accurate diagnosis, and differentiate foodborne infection from other food related illness..
