The article serves as a reminder of the essential pillars where palliative care is based so whoever finds himself caring for dying patients clearly understand the drivers. It cites the ultimate goal of palliative care of achieving the best possible quality of life for all patients and provide them a dignified death in a place of their choosing. It provides guiding principles implemented by the Western world such as affirming life and dying as a normal process and providing relief from pain.
