Abstract

A presentation to a group of women's sector leaders and academics in Sunderland to consider the recruitment, support and ongoing care that survivors require to reduce re-traumatisation and retention in the women's sector. There are around 50% of support workers with lived experience of domestic and sexual violence in the sector and a proud feminist history of activism from grass roots organisations created to support women in communities. From recruitment, to support whilst in their roles, what is needed to provide trauma responsive, safe working spaces.
