Abstract
The presentation provides an exploration of the key aspects in preparing future Business and Economics teachers in England. Firstly, an overview of the various routes into teaching sets the scene before sharing the context in which trainees at University of Worcester train to teach Business and Economics. The presentation focuses on the influence of the market review and the Core Content Framework (CCF) on teacher training. The PGCE course is explained, including the course calendar and the balance of university professional studies and subject specialist taught sessions along with the training curriculum delivered in partnership schools as trainee work with subject specialist mentors. Insights into the pilot Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP), along with the PGCE Secondary course plans for 2024 will be explored. Business and Economics trainee teachers have a variety of experiences as part of their PGCE and their development as a teacher; a range of these experiences will be shared in the presentation.
