Transformative Potential of Artificial Intelligence in Fostering Inclusive Entrepreneurship in Sub-Saharan Africa

This case examines the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enabling inclusive entrepreneurship among entrepreneurs living with disabilities in Nigeria. Designed for use in business, entrepreneurship, and development studies classrooms, the case encourages critical engagement with real-world challenges faced by entrepreneurs living with disabilities in the Global South. Students will explore how AI technologies—ranging from accessibility tools to business automation platforms—are being adopted to overcome systemic barriers such as social stigma, infrastructural inaccessibility, and limited market access. Through case narratives and contextual analysis, this chapter invites to assess both the opportunities and limitations of AI as a tool for empowerment. It also highlights the roles of policy, innovation ecosystems, and support organizations in fostering inclusive entrepreneurial environments. The case is structured to support discussion-based learning and is accompanied by a comprehensive teaching note, including learning objectives, suggested discussion flows, and assessment strategies.
