Abstract:

REACH stands for Research Engagement And Community Health. It was co-designed with members of the VCSE sector as a supportive framework for Worcestershire and informed by local communities’ experiences of health and social care research.
The aim of the REACH project was to raise the profile of community-based and clinical research across Worcestershire in order to maximise opportunities for participation. Funded by Research Engagement Network (REN) 2 and NIHR Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM) grants, the project had a particular focus on seldom-heard and under-served people at risk of the impact of health inequality to increase diversity within health and social care research. There was an additional emphasis on supporting communities and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations to develop their own community-based research projects.
