Abstract

This book is primarily about providing a greater understanding of the real lived effect that social policies have on service users and carers. While service user and
carer involvement has become more and more prominent in social policy over recent years, it is rarely the case that the perspectives of service users and carers go beyond
consultation to true and meaningful involvement. The key aim of the book is to provide a greater understating of the real lived experience that social policies have
on service users and carers, which hopefully provides the impetus towards changes to make such social policies better for service users and carers. This book is firmly rooted in the belief that experiential knowledge contributes meaningfully to the beneficial development of services and provision
