Abstract

This article provides a unique insight into the lived experience of residential care. In the light of recent guidance on person-centred care in the United Kingdom, the article eloquently outlines the impact of the English government rhetoric centred on ‘well-being’ and ‘person-centred care’ and the impact of contemporary neoliberal policy within the care system. The author currently resides in a residential setting; therefore, the article attends to current, real-life experiences.
