Abstract

The Children’s Alliance Working Groups - A Passion for Change for our Children
As a next step from the multidisciplinary work undertaken, some of which shared at the inaugural Worcester Business School and Children's Alliance Conference (2023), four working groups were established: - The Early Years, Nutrition, Emotional Health and Physical Activity.
The aim of the Working Groups is: - To improve the health and well-being of babies, children, and young people across the UK.
Alongside the aim to persuade the Government/Prime Minister to introduce a cabinet minister or department for children and families, energies are directed towards making policy/on the ground change at a national, regional, and local levels that will propagate positive adjustments to the lives of children, young people, their families and importantly, also the professionals supporting them.
The four working groups seek to use collective expertise and available resources to inform evidence-based strategies in support of children and young people. Each respective working groups has produced a podium set of aims. To this end the Physical Activity Working Group, of which Dr Pamela F Murray is a Co-Chair here presents its differentiated levels of goals.
In this podium presentation of recommendations, Bronze, Silver and Gold aspirations for policy change are identified, including the aim for Play to become a protected characteristic and inclusion of filial play across settings to support children [as called for in Pamela’s keynote presentation Murray, P. (June 2023) From the unfelt to living with empathy: A caricature of a development journey with implications for the leadership of envisaged worlds of care.[http://eprints.worc.ac.uk/13875/]]
