An increasing number of children around the globe are growing up in same-sex parent households, in family configurations that change fundamental notions about parenthood and parenting. This workshop explores challenges and opportunities related to decision making about children’s best interests and parenting in same-sex couple families, using an interactive, problem-based learning approach. Drawing on research evidence and a complex case study, participants will consider the implications of same-sex partnerships for children, parents and family law processes, reflect on their parenting assumptions, including shared parenting and children’s well-being.
